Today in class, we completed the Bellringer for Chapter 9, Section 1.  We also began reading the section and completing the vocabulary builder and notes.

REMINDERS:

Tuesday, January 31 is designated as a “Re-enrollment T-shirt day” and jeans day.  To receive th t-shirt the online forms must be completed and the re-enrollment fee received in the Admissions Office.   we open up the paid waiting list for placement.  The fee also increases to $225 for returning students.

Today in class, we took the Section 3 Social Studies quiz.  We also began preparing for the Chapter 8 Test.

Today in class we checked our Vocabulary Builder sheet and our Section 3 Notes.  We also completed a group activity where we looked up a word that has Greek roots but that we used in modern terms.  We looked up both definitions and wrote a sentence using the modern definition!

“Move Up Morning” will be this Thursday for sixth grade.  Our sixth graders will go to the PAC to hear from next year’s seventh grade teachers for this activity.  Parents, please wait in the lobby until Mr. Fox calls for you at 8:25!

Please remember that ribbons for each grading period do not affect yearly academic awards.  From page 5 of our handbook:

“To qualify for the Yearly Honor Roll in May, students must have a 93 yearly average in all subjects.

To qualify for the Yearly Achievement Roll in May, students must have an 85 yearly average in all subjects.

Any student with an ‘N’ or ‘U’ in conduct is not eligible for an academic award.”

ATTENTION ELEMENTARY PARENTS

MUM’s the word! Yes, everyone is looking forward to “Move Up Mornings” in January. Students and their parents will be able to “move up” to their grade for next year to hear about the exciting and fun things prepared for them during the 2012-2013 school year from the teachers of their next grade level.

Remember these dates:

Students in grades PK through 2 will move up to their next grade level on January 10, from 8:30 – 9:15 AM. JK PM will move up from 2:15 – 2:45 PM.

Students in grades 3-6 will move up to their next grade level on January 12, from 8:30- 9:15 AM.

Today in class we began Chapter 23: The Circulatory and Respiratory Systems.  We completed the start up activity, bellringer, and terms to learn.  We also read the section.

Science- Complete DRW Section 1 (#1-54)- due Tuesday
